I have not started playing lotro just yet and i have a few questions. To play lotro shadows of angmar will i have to buy the other expansions or can i buy them later on?

Shadows of Angmar is teh original game, so you don't need to buy them all at once. I believe there is a 3-in-1 deal going on somewhere (possibly on teh CM site) if you wanted to take advantage though.

The only thing you'll really be missing if you just buy the original is that you won't be able to roll either a warden or a runekeeper: those 2 classes came with Mines of Moria expansion.
